Well, the weekend is here, 140-160

And i was supposed to take care of my oil change and play with the timing today. Well, i'm quite tired, and haven't done anything yet on the car and it's almost 2 in the morning. Gotta get up in 5ish hours to go to PIR to help out at the Historic Races. But anyway,

For oil, i usually use 10W30 Castrol GTX, and i was wondering if i should switch up to 15W50... Better protection against wear and tear i guess(well, after it gets heated up), and Shayne says it helps quiet down the sewing machine sound a little bit. I've been wanting to drop some mobil one in there, but i sure don't have the money.(just had an interview today, we'll see how that works out) Also been reading about the 0W40 stuff that they use in new Mercedes and stuff, if i eventually go with some M1, i think i might be using that, or maybe the 15W50, who knows. What temperatures are the 15W50 good for? It doesn't get that hot here in my areas of OR, but the nights can still be in the 40s so the engine's cold in the morning. Is that a bit low for 15W50? prolly not, Shayne uses it...

And then on to the timing... My car as it is, at 17* every once and a while diesels.... Not cool. Advancing the timing more would only increase the likelyhood of that happening, correct? I'm sure the fact that my weber is trash has something to do with the run on... but for now, i don't think i want to advance it much more at this point to keep the running on to a minimum. What do you guys think? That weber is really pissing me off you know, i'm considering using some of that big credit line i've got to just get the SUs rebuilt and taken care of. Highway driving, i'm telling ya, and the cold starts... and... etc... Oh, and the gassy/exhausty smells can get quite bad. Not sure how much of it is coming from the carb leaking or the exhaust ending under the rear bench. Either way, both of those situations need to be taken care of.

Ramble on, :)
