So i did play with my timing a bit...
George, when advancing until the idle went down, it was at 33+ degrees... Maybe my car has a thick headgasket so is even worse than normal? That wouldn't make sense, it already is a low compression F head... Who know's what's been decked though. I think i remember measuring the height of the head and it was what it said it should be in my HAynes manual for the F head. But yeah, i set it up to about 22degrees, and it runs fine, no pinging, i didn't try going higher, i just left it there. It seems to be a little smoother, so that makes it not seem very powerful, but then the one two shift pushes me back into my seat a little more (I THINK), you know how this homestyle dyno works.(doesn't) So, yeah, it's nice to have it advanced that far with no problems running on 87!!! octane gas. Well, maybe this tank is 89, i don't remember. I'll find out, or i'll just keep going 89, no REAL biggie.
I guess i'll do this, once i get lots of money, and have already put on the SUs and the exhaust that goes out the back and the electric cooling fan, i'll pay up some money to get it dynoed... ;D Bring some extra needles with me for the SUs, and then just play around with needles and timing i guess. See how it all works out... That could be fun... :)
