"(I wish I had a nickel for every hour I wasted on it doing things that
didn't help!)"
OMG, ain't that the truth! Just the other day I had to do an last-minute water pump change (Sat night before a show on Sun) which went well enough, but then as I was filling the system and runnign it to bleed, it started running like crap... Low idle... very rich... wanted to stall... "What the... I didn't touch ANYTHING that had anything to do with fuel or ignition..." Checked the timing... fine... Hmm... Well, it the plug for the coolant sensor on the car is broken and there's only two clips that push onto the sensor... one of them had inadvertantly been knocked off. Slipped it back on and it instantly ran better.
Moral: Be sure to check all the connections first.
I still have a hunting idle which indicates a vacuum leak somewhere... but the engine is coming out of the car in a couple of weeks to do a A/T to M/T swap, so I suppose I won't worry about it for now.
Has anyone found a good source for replacing the Aux Air Valve hoses?
