Knocking 200

This is uncommon on late model B230F's, but it is possible that his engine has developed "piston slap", a condition that arises when the bores wear enough to allow for a gap between the pistons and the cylinder walls on a cold engine. The pistons then "rock" in their bores and produce a kind of metallic knocking. The pistons in this motor are alloys, and they expand ever so slightly at temperature. Piston slap is heard only when the engine is cold and subsides after a few minutes of running.
