Driving from California to Ohio in a Metro van years ago I lost the rear axle nut. I located a large castle nut in a junk yard off an old Rambler, but the treads were different. I took the nut to the local town dealer somewhere in the southwest and to my delight a mechanic had a threading die to fit. The job took the mechanic 20 minutes an the hippy was on his way. Never had any trouble with it again. I would think a spring shop would have something big enough or certainly a small machine shop. Keith
