Here is something you can do 200

I just remembered something that may help if you want to shut off the airflow without closing the dash outlets. This assumes the vacuum lines that control internal dampers are in good shape. Leave the floor outlet and defroster outlet buttons in the off (button out) position and push the recirculate button in. This will stop fresh air from entering the cabin. I don't know how advisable it is for long periods. But you can always open it for a bit if the interior gets stuffy.
It didn't occur to before me because it's not really the purpose of this feature. Well, it is, sort of, but only until the A/C gets the interior to a comfortable temp. Anyway, it will accomplish what you want.
