Ah yes. This was my project last summer. Very "fun"
The IPD seal is great, but he windshield can be a bit tricky. My original was broken in two places.
Finding glass is not too hard. I "bought" two through sellers, but the 1st seller destroyed the glass in the process of removal. The second seller got it out in perfect condition, but the USPS crushed it flat in transit.
The volvo dealer got me three (they broke the first two in transit) for just about $200.00. (paid for with the insurance from the one the USPS crushed).
Some of the major glass sellers can get them too, but Safelite (for instance) is about $50.00 more than volvo.
However, you stand a very good chance of getting the windshield out intact. I used an extra long break-a-blade utility knife and sliced the old seal apart. It came out very easy (there was no extra selant between the glass and rubber). I found some pretty bad rust around the opening (I have digital pics if you want to see) and did a fair amount of restoration with POR-15.
Getting the winshield back in is kinda scarry. It takes a lot more effort to get a new one in.
There's a good article that covers this at VClassics.

Good luck.
