Engine runs backward -end 140-160 1972

Back in business. Misdiagnosis on my part. When I stalled it and immediately restarted there was a backfire that spat out the plug in the auxiliary air idle hole on the intake manifold which explains the WOT. (The aux.air valve went gunnybag about a year ago.)
Here's the indie's take on the original problem.
" On this ignition problem with the '73 145. When I put the engine in and had
the ignition problems I discovered that AFTER the ignition switch was turned
off there were a series of coil discharges (sparks). The result was that
while cranking it wouldn't start because there was NO spart but when you
turned the key off there was a series off sparks that caused the engine to
run or run backwards after a fashion.
My conclusion was that the switch itself was somehow faulty because as soon
as I swapped it out the car started and ran fine.
The heart of the problem seems to be electronic as if a computer is
remembering the signal and playing it back out of time. Hence my intuition
tells me there is a control unit you installed for he electronic ignition
and somehow that is the root of the problem."
Thanks for the responses.
