Electrical Problem / New Battery and Alternator S90-V90 1998

To several posters:

I do not know where your dealer is, but my local dealer charged $112 to read the code, which took all of 30 seconds. Then they offered to complete the job for another $400 including the PNP switch.

I got the part from FCP and went to an independent who installed it for about $150.
He said clearances are tight and that is why it cost so much.

Finally, just because an alternator has a rating of 100 amps it does not mean that it will be putting out that much. It puts out what the electrical load is plus what the battery needs. If fully charged the battery needs nothing.

I suggest never going to either of those "mechanics" again.
