Thanks for the responses. I am considering leaving the clamp off. My car doesn't get driven very much, and my old single downpipe was missing the clamp too, and never had a problem. But I will look into it one more time, because if I am going to fabricate something, now is the time to do it, since I haven't tightened the exhaust system clamps yet. I could attempt to find that bracket at a junk yard. Once I see what that bracket looks like I would be able to figure out where it is supposed to attach.
