Definitive answer...B20 Valves 140-160

A compromise yes, but not for the reason you mention.
For a larger valve to work, the port throat and bowl below it have to be
larger in proportion. I've never had a crack between the valves on the head,
but I have had the port bowl get too thin when porting for optimum flow with the larger valves. So, yes there is a compromise on most of the street heads for reliability vs the small extra gain of going to a 38 mm ext valve.
