So... Why sedans?

I don't understand the allure of sedans. I personally think they're rather ugly, their aerodymanics are about the same as wagons, and the way their storage space is arranged is inferior to a wagon. Plus, their rear lights leave a lot to be desired (usually located on the trunk lid that is constantly being slammed), and I understand the trunk area rattle eventually but you can't hear it as well so loose vibrating parts don't get attended to promptly.

I undestand you can add more cargo vertically (with cartop carriers) or horizontally (trailers) but with a sedan you have artifically 'trunk'cated good useful space, the springs are mushier, they don't have rear wipers (I totally want one), you can't see as well backing up and ...? they're odd ducks?

What is so good about sedans?
