In general I would agree that wagons are not that attractive, but its the opposite with at least the later 240s. The rear ends of the sedans just got dorkier as the model evolved.
The best were the early 240s with the flat backs and the separate side lamps. The next version with 5 panel wrap arounds look ok but not as nice as the original. The 6 panel early 80s lamps really started to look like the back of an Oldsmobile. Then the rounded trunk lid completely made the rear end dorky.
The wagon rear ends got better. The larger glass looks better, and the later rear doors don't seem to rattle as much. As with the sedans, I don't really like the wrap around lamps.
Noise is relative to year. I have an 89 sedan, and it has louder road/engine noise than my 93 wagon.
