Light socket: DRLs, or not? .... 200

re: "...depending on market, some turn signals are equipped with daytime running lights in the "parking lamp" portion of the turn signal assembly...."

Funny you should mention this: I've got two '93s, with Euroheadlights on both.

When I first bought Euroheadlights (and the parking/turn signals to go with them, of course, from a guy in the Netherlands), they turned out to be DJAuto brand. And there was no second contact in the upper socket for the DRLs. I had to drill out the hole (there's a "dimple" to aim the drill bit, though) and put the contact and wire from a disassembled aftermarket socket to have the DRLs work.

But for my second '93, I got real Volvo/Cibie brand lamps ....

Sidebar: I had mentioned at times to my family that I was disappointed in the quality of the DJAuto lamps, so when my wonderful daughter, a lawyer, went to Europe on a business trip, while there she bought and had them shipped to me as a surprise birthday present! The best birthday present I ever got! I just had to give her credit for this here! :-)

... and these had the DRL wiring in the upper socket and extending back to the gray connector plug that engages the car's harness. The DRL uses the middle of the three contacts in that gray plug, but it needs some rewiring, as the polarity is reversed (some function of the OEM DRL control) -- so if you want to use it with some home-brewed controller (or an aftermarket DRL module), you should know about this.
