CVOLVO,
Thanks for the reply. The ID code is indeed 46. Someone went to an amazing amount of effort to repaint the car at some time. The roof and hood are pretty oxidized but the rest is in fair shape. I could not find a single spot on the car that wasn't painted metallic, and the metallic sits on a white primer base. The guy I bought it from bought a bunch of pickup trucks and the man he bought them from threw the 544 in as a bonus. The guy I bought it from said he knew nothing about the car. The odometer reads a little over 59,000 and the underside of the car looks like low milage. If it has been past 100,000 miles somedody must have done a complete restoration on it for the paint to be so complete, and the suspension parts, exhaust and the rest to look so good. The interior is grey and a combination of vinyl with fabric seating areas as shown on the fantastic website you direxted me to (many thanks, WHAT A GREAT RESOURCE!!) and looks to mbe original.
Unfortunately I discovered that the oil pan had been unbolted so I don't know what's up with that. I plan to rebuild the engine anyway, I bought an Isky cam, lifters and pushrods that I was going to put in another car but will put them in this one, along with a four-into-one header and a weber carb. Anyway the car is pretty much a mystery to me. No chance this could have been a special option paint? Can you think of a spot that the factory might have painted that would have been missed by someone repainting the car? I'd like to find some original red on the car just to satisfy my curiosty.
Again, Thanks for the website
