I did a very minimalist rebuild on mine, only new parts were the gaskets. I was going to mix and match between the M40 (early, 1963 vintage, in great shape) and the M41 (unknown age, but late vintage) but in the end the syncro blocker rings were the only parts that interchanged between the boxes. I reused the springs, nothing looked to be too worn out in my set of parts.
I definitely printed out the whole article on Vclassics.com and referred to it frequently while dis- and re- assembling all the parts.
