Charging system problems....newbie needs help! 200 1986

Well this has been a pleasant surprise.
I joined another Volvo forum when I first got the car and was lucky to get an answer on any question I had. Even when I DID get an answer it was usually wrong or at the very least so vague my little mind couldn't comprehend what was being said.
You guys have no idea how much I appreciate the help you've given me. Now I can go into this problem in a logical manner and hopefully figure it out. I will be sure to update with what I find so that this thread might be able to help someone else out in the future.
