Steve,
The main thing that keeps me from putting in another CD player is the skipping I experienced with my old one. True, it wasn't a really high-end unit, but I had the frame I made for it, which was lined with a 1/4" layer of foam rubber, suspended from rubber bushings, and still the thing skipped. Besides, I now have the iPod all loaded up, so I'll go with the transmitter gizmo first. If that doesn't give me acceptable results, I'll move on to Plan B, whatever that turns out to be.
