Repairman,

Replace the coil. It may not be THE problem it is certainly A problem.

I had a Harley coil that failed in exactly that mode. Ran beautiful for about five minutes and barely ran at all after that. Like your coil, it read OK cold; nearly a dead short when hot.

But I thought your swapped the coil early on in this problem???
