M41 Install 140-160

I agree with Walrus---use the early style long stick. That way the conversion is a simple bolt-in, though you may need to cut an approximately 3" round hole in the top of the tunnel if there isn't currently one. You don't really want to get into cutting and welding on the tunnel if you don't have to---and yes, it should be welded, as the tunnel is an important structural element of the car.

As far as I know, there is no difference in the tunnel, manual vs. automatic, on a 140, unlike a 122, where the differences are major. The 140s were designed so that either transmission could be installed in any shell----there are two sets of bolt holes in the floor for the different transmission crossmembers.
