how difficult can it be? 120-130 1965

thicker wire = fewer windings?
So is it a matter of checking the resistance of the two wires and doing the math?

Or do you have to measure the resistance of 2 equal length sections of the different wires and then do the math?

I'd settle for thicker wire over not being able to solder the existing wire in the middle - probably where the contact rides over the winding.

One of you electrical wizards must be able to measure/determine the gauge/proper wire to use and source it.

Barring any other problems, how difficult can it be to carefully wind fine wire and solder it at the ends?

Yeah, I will have to use my cheaters and a lot of light and before too much coffee.
