later MC adapter ring 120-130

I'da thought the 12/6 holes wouldn't be tapped as that's where the countersunk bolts bolt through the ring to the firewall and the 9/3 holes would be tapped to bolt the MC to the ring. Are you sure?

I don't like studs. Once I drill and tap the holes, I think I'd prefer bolting the MC to the ring. Or is the concern stripping the aluminum threads with repeated R&R? Why studs?
