It strikes me odd that the switch itself would fail from just sitting andI think that you are likely right, it is a connection problem of some sort. Any idea how to test the switch? It is raining here today and it might just be a Volvo day in the garage.

I posted about the tach falling dead when the high beam lights are on. That too is likely a connection problem?
