Bad D-jet Behavior. 140-160

After temperatures down to 5° F, today was 45° and foggy and rainy - lots of condensation all over the 142E. About 15 minutes into a road trip, I notices irregular engine behavior, so I turned around and headed for home. Running became more irregular, lots of back-firing, gradual loss of power, limped along in 1st and 2nd till engine died. Long story shortened: about 15 minutes later the car started, and I drove home without any trouble.

I suspect that the problem was caused by moisture condensing on the wires of the ancient D-jet harness, or getting sprayed up from the road, and that during the 15 minute rest period the engine heat drove out the moisture. Any alternate theories?

BTW, I lost the turn signal too.
