pulling the B20 engine on the ES 1800 1973

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting holding the belt(s) together with vise grips--the belt is tied and the vise grips (the flat ones used to hold sheet metal panels together is there just to keep the works from slipping on the hook). And yes, of course I use chains when called for - with the B18/20-rocker arm shaft removed - I use head bolts to lift from a central spot-- but sometimes the path of the lifting device has hardware-carbs, distributor, brackets in the way and the belts can safely go where a chain might cause damage. I do value all my fingers and toes--and still have them. -- Dave
