If you had a fuel pressure problem, you'd see gas dripping from the vents in the float bowl covers, so I think you're okay there.

I once saw an otherwise smart mechanic install SU needles incorrectly: he pushed them up into the pistons until they stopped, rather than having the top of the taper flush with the bottom of the piston. Any chance of something like that?

What needles are in the carbs now?
