Klaus,
Start a thread in all areas of the Brickboard, "Would you help a fellow Brickboard member?" and ask who would be willing to buy tickets. Show the car, warts and all. Explain the situation and the goal. You would have your answer in short order. If it is not viable, it isn't. But I think the folks here would help.
At $10 each I will buy 20 tickets. If you get only 9 more people to commit to the same, you will be $500 over the fair market value that Bob estimated. Anything above that would be gravy.
I can promise the car will live under a cover when not in use (my garage is for my motorcycles). I won't part it. BUT, I will drive it until the wheels fall off. Then I'll put the wheels back on and drive it some more. I cannot promise what will ultimately happen to the car but I would keep it for daily transport for the foreseeable future.
If someone wins the car and does not want it or can't fly in to pick it up, offer $1500 cash in it's place, put the $1500 difference in CA's purse, and then sell the car outright for what it will pull.
