Clunky steering 140-160 1972

First check the tie rod ends. Sometimes this is easy to do with an assistant. Crawl under the car to a spot where you can see the ends. Have the assistant turn the steering wheel to the clunking area and see if the tie rod and steering knuckle move in unison.

If the ends are ok, check the steering box for fluid and adjustment.
Actually, check the steering box for fluid and adjustment anyway.
