The components which I replaced that seemed to make a big difference were the Steering Intermediate Shaft bushes. This is the Volvo safety devise in the steering column between the box and the shaft. They took all of the slop out of this part of the shaft.
Superpro do a replacement bush kit for this, part no. SPF0892K
