93 940 No AC, no power to compressor

For something else to do, I ran a jumper directly from the Pos battery terminal to the green wire going to the compressor. I connected it by undoing the gr/red to gr connector mounted to the block below the FI system. I get one click from the compressor. I can feel the click with my hand on the body of the compressor. Does this mean the compressor is DOA?
