740 cold no start rsr problem

Well, the RSR coil circuit it pretty simple, so the only thing that comes to mind right now is that ground you cleaned. I think Art B pointed out that it's location above the battery could expose it to battery fumes. If you cleaned it only by pulling he connectors off and on the "tabs" a few times, that might not have been good enough. That is, the corrosion resistance might also be between the 4-tab mounting bolt, and inner fender body metal. But since I cleaned my faulty ground both ways, I can't say what I really "fixed" (see pic of grounding tab removed for cleaning).

What I can say that if/when my RSR acts up again, it will be permanently bypassed. IMO it serves no practical or operational purpose beyond it's assumed function of suppressing radio noise interference. The 240s (same engine and basic wiring) do not have an RSR, and their injector voltage comes straight from the "main" relay in the FI Relay case, with no apparent radio interference complaints from 240 users.

Right Front ground connection removed for scraping & wire brushing...
