To expand upon what George has already said...
- The "E" and "F" heads have the same size valves... 35mm exhaust, 44mm intake.
- I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that all "F" heads had hardened valve seats from the factory. Maybe it was just the later ones though (73'ish & up). This is based simply on the fact that my '73 ES owner manual clearly states that low-lead gas may be used.
- In bone stock configuration, I believe the "E" head flows a bit better than the "F", and for sure it carries much higher compression... 10.5:1 vs 8.7:1. Bottom line was about 10 (SAE net) hp difference between the two, assuming d-jet injection on both.
- The difference in compression ratio between the thinnest gasket (about .030") and the thickest (IPD's low c/r .068") is going to be approximately 1 full point... e.g. 10.5:1 vs 9.5:1.
