Howdy:
I put the IPD thicker head gasket kit on my 71 142e with factory D-Jet. I could tell the difference in performance, but it goes plenty fast for me.
If I had a bigger and heavier 145, the decision might be different.
87 octane is a lot less than 92.

Just my 2 cents.
