Testing the Coil 900 1991

Bruce,
Following your suggestions, with power on I found no voltage at the coil, either red/white side or blue side. I moved on to the RSR which is brand new. Unplugged the plug containing the 4 wires to the RSR and started to prepare jumper from heavy red wire to heavy red/green wire. Got a large spark when I attempted to jump the two together so I wanted to make sure I have the correct wires before I continue. Is the spark normal?
I noticed the plug itself is deteriorated. There are some insulators inside the plug that are supposed to keep the connection nice and tight. These "insulators" (lack of a better word) are hard and crumbling.
Please advise if I am jumping the correct wires together.
