RSR bypass jumper 900 1991

"Got a large spark when I attempted to jump the two together so I wanted to make sure I have the correct wires before I continue. Is the spark normal?"

Yes, those are the correct wires: Red to Red/Green. The spark may have been related to condition of the wires and an accidental contact with the small Black wire, as that one is grounded by the ECU (if the Key was left On).

However, in looking at a 1994 diagram (all I could find, with the smaller Fuel relay like yours), I see that the ECU and AMM would also have their normal ground paths, so the ECU load may have been enough to make the spark. The RSR loads on the Red/Green wire are:

• ECU basic power from RSR with Key On (grounded)
• AMM (grounded)
• Coil (not grounded)
• Injectors (not grounded)
• Idle Air Control (not grounded)
• Fuel relay coil (not grounded)

Frankly, this later RSR circuit is not what I'm used to, and a better approach to the RSR jumper might be to start by disconnecting the Battery NEGATIVE cable, insert the Red to Red/Green jumper wire in the correct harness plug terminals, and then reconnect the battery NEGATIVE cable (expect some sparking as contact is made).
