Preemptive Starter Replacement 200

I guess I am with you on this. I never realized that people had problems...ever...with the 240 starters until I came back into the fold about 6 months ago. When I was still a common poster in the mid-late 90's, I do not remember a single starter issue being discussed.

My 1976 with complete unknown miles was driven for 3 years, 1996-1999 with no starter issues. My 1979 240 with an estimated 330K miles was on its original starter when I gave it away in 2003.

This a stick-shift car, no signs of impending failure and no guarantees that the starter going in is any better than the one coming out...I would say leave it bee.
