Who is this Jalopnik guy and why is he so uninformed? Many cars have codes accessible by the driver. I own an eight year old GM product, and I can pull codes through the DIC anytime I want - from any of four on board computers. So Jalopnik should venture outside a bit more frequently, and get acquainted with the real world.
