When is the last time the fuel filter was changed?
If I remember correctly, the fuel filter is under the hood near the brake master cylinder.
I would loosen the inlet end (ignition off and keys in my pocket) and see if any water came out of the filter when I tilted it up.
Use caution, the fuel will be pressurized for a second or two until the accumulator empties.....so no smoking or sparks.
