Seized engine S90-V90 1998

Still haven't checked the oil. Irritation levels are to high yet! To continue with the story, the car broke a valve which had gone through the piston. I had a local backyard mechanic (bad idea) put a new piston in it and he had a tough time doing it because it took him almost about three weeks. He didn't get it running and I finally towed it home. I found that he had switched the cams when putting it together. I switched them back and the car was running fine. My wife took it from N.C to GA. with no problems. Just before it locked up it had been making an odd noise that I could not pinpoint but sounded like a low decible hum inside the engine but when you increased rpm's it went away. I am now thinking that my mechanic may have over tightened the crankshaft bearing or put it in wrong and it froze up. Just a thought. I can pick up another S90 for around $4k here in NC so may just use the old one for parts!
Thank you all for all the good advice and ideas. If nothing comes out in the oil I may just make it a project car and tear it apart when I have nothing to keep me occupied!!
Thanks again - Nelson
