Addendum

To further echo some of the comments made by others, if you have no compunction about buying a 94 960 for $4000, you should feel much more at ease buying a 94 or 95 940(or even a 93). The 4 cylinder engine in these cars are what made Volvo famous for reliability. The six cylinder in a 960, not so much. It appears you have had some decent luck with your 960, but trust me from reading this board over the years, yours is the exception not the rule. In my area I see 940's like this fairly regularly: http://bargainnews.com/viewad.cfm?Show_Notepad=Yes&bnAd_ID=6961949&TheDealer=
For $3000 you should be able to find a 93-95 940 around the 100k mile mark in really good shape, and save the extra money for anticipated repairs.
My 2 cents.
Rod.
