You are in Portland still? Surely one of the most friendly and vintage Volvo active cities in the country....

Hook up with some owners of other models. Surely someone would gladly take the time to show you their 544 and go over positives and negatives of ownership vis-à-vis a 122 coupe.

all the wonderful roads you have out there, I still really think you'd enjoy a 544 if you're into twisty roads.
