I use the method printed in the Haynes manual for 122/1800 models. It's pretty simple and if you follow the steps closely you'll have a pair of nicely set up SUs. I've been doing this for years and the method has never failed. Be sure your carbs are in good shape, no air leaks around the throttle shafts, no vacuum leaks at the manifold, etc.
