Hi,
Ok noted.
I don't the history of the car if the driver's window had been replaced before (broken/theft/accident). Some replacement windows are sold as glass only. Some glass are sold with its lower metal bar attached. If glass only part was replaced, could it be the glass was not properly inserted into the metal bar? Or inserted with the wrong glue and now its partly detached. And if the window was broken there could be some small glass fragments left within the rubber guide. Check the upper guide on the door frame to see if any foreign body lodged there.
Otherwise you could compare the amount of play (at the X arms) between the driver's and passenger side. If the wear is more then a replacement might be needed (yard item or new). But normally the window mechanism lasts the lifetime of the car if nothing unusual happened.
Regards,
Amarin.
Hint: If the window had been broken before, check the carpets below your driver's seat. Usually a few glass fragments are still there.
