Incomplete Clutch Disengagement.. or something UPDATE

This afternoon I took the transmission back out and removed the pressure plate and disc. I mounted the pressure plate and disc to an extra flywheel I had and used an old release bearing along with a long carriage bolt to simulate disengagement. The disc did not release. I did the same procedure with the old pressure plate and found that it did release the disc. To me, this suggests that the new pressure plate is either defective or damaged. (even though it appears to be fine upon visual inspection)
The pilot bearing showed no signs of being damaged.
