Wasn't my intent to offend anyone...

...when I asked about the 5.0 conversion.

I have to admit that it does look very cool, and anyone who is capable of doing a job like that certainly has my respect.

But, I think that there is quite a bit of exaggeration on the part of some of the folks who have done the conversion. If your 240 is really out accelerated by school buses and Geo Metros, something isn't right. They aren't the fastest vehicles on the road by far, but they ain't that slow.

I think what I meant to say was something like this...why modify a perfectly capable and reliable vehicle when, for the same kind of money, you could buy a used Mustang or Camaro? Every vehicle has its purpose, and a Volvo 240 is never going to be a sports car because it is too heavy and unaerodynamic. What it is, in my opinion, is an extremely safe, versatile, and comfortable "people hauler" with an adequate amount of power. It could be much faster, but it was never designed the run the 1/4 mile in 12 seconds, or even in 14. It was not designed to tow several thousand pounds over the Rockies either. That's what trucks are for.

Didn't intend to put anyone down, was just looking for different points of view.

If you have a 240/740/940 with a conversion, please enjoy it! And don't forget to wave when you pass me on the highway. ;-)
