Having done a substantial amount of towing in my life, primari;y of the equine nature, lets just understand something.
Big engines drink gas, wether you are hauling or not. Yeah, trucks suck gas, or diesal, so I don't drive them for cars.I prefer diesal becasue without 4wd, I can get 17mpg on the highway.
Many gas sucking trucks have the very good 5.0 engine. They suck gas.So do Mustangs. so will a 240 with a 5.0 engine. Loaded or empty, bigger engines suck gas. If they didn't, why did the gas criss have such a profund effect on eliminating them in the 70's?He could do some serious boat hauling with a manual 164.
I saw a Chevy/240 conversion, at a car show. guy never drives it "cause it sucks gas.
That someone want to do the conversion? Let him knock himself out.
