money pit...too old.

I wouldn't advise buying it as a winter car...maybe if you had all summer to sort it out before winter!

You're going to have wiring problems, the carrier bearing can be tricky (I don't bother with them...have the dealer do it...$250 or so), the automatic A/C on the 760's is expensive to fix (manual much better), and so forth.

OTOH, $500 isn't too much to risk; the carrier bearing may or may not last (clunks a lot?), brake pads are maybe $50 from IPD, worst case is brake rotors, bearings, and caliper kit or rebuilt calipers. Buy it and drive it as long as you can and sell it for $2900 to the right buyer!
