Re: using hours instead of mileage 700 1988

I did some interesting calculations once but don't have the time to redo them now:

1. Average number of miles an old fashioned design american engine could do, based on about 100,000 miles, mixed highway city driving.

2. Average number of miles a modern engine could do, about 250,000 miles.

3. When you have to rebuild a cessna engine: 2000 hours.

And then I noted a cessna engine is expected to run at 65-75% of maximum power output ALL the time, which car engines hardly ever do.

It made the cessna engine look pretty damn good, for a 1920's design.
