No help here, Pete but I used to have a D-type that did the same thing.
When running it up past 4,000 RPM, it would feel like ignition cutting out without any of the sputtering sounds.
I have a J-type in that same car now- no problems(once I got it sorted out).
Wiper delay? I have your diagram memorized-I'm ready!
