I believe that a b20b with dual carbs had more factory horsepower than any B21F.
Yep - according to Volvo world, 118hp and 123 lb.-ft. torque through 1971. Highest output for a B21F was 107hp and 114 lb.-ft.
My "wet dream" would be a B23E (140hp, 141 lb.-ft.) with dual carbs and an M46 in either a 544 or a 2-dr. Amazon. With an electronic ignition, headers, hi-flow exhaust and 'K' cam.
As you note, there isn't sufficient room in the 544 engine bay to accomodate a turbocharged engine. However, John Parker at Vintage Performance Developments is currently working on a supercharger for the OHV engines (b18, b20). His web page is http://www.v-performance.com .
